FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A slow-moving anticyclone is centred over the southern Tasman Sea and a southerly airstream flows across New Zealand. Forecast: Canterbury.—Southerlies still fresh at first in exposed northern areas but lighter, variable winds elsewhere; cloud about and north of Banks Peninsula with a few showers, but clearing slowly; mainly fine in the south; remaining cool. Marlborough, Nelson, Buller and Westland. —Fresh southerlies and a few showers about the Marlborough coast, but elsewhere fine with moderate variable winds, southeasterlies predominating; moderate afternoon temperatures.
