REVISED ELANS

Lotus has introduced more powerful versions of its 1600 c.c. twin-cam engine to power new versions of the Elan and Elan Plus Two sports-cars. The new engine produces 126 b.h.p. compared with 101 b.h.p. for the previous unit, the changes having been brought about by the use of larger valves and a different camshaft.

Performance figures claimed for the new Elan Sprint are 0 to 60 m.p.h. in s.9sec, and 0 to 100 m.p.h. in 15.9 sec. Top speed is 124 m.p.h.
