Anti-missile satellite
r.V.r.r.A.-asaMr—Copunoht I CAPE KENNEDY, May 9. A huge spy satellite, designed to double the warning time of an enemy missile attack against the United States, is now in orbit around the earth. The 18001 b satellite was launched by a powerful United States Air Force Titan
3C rocket. It is designed to be placed about 24,000 miles above the earth where it will describe a figure eight in space to keep watch on Russia, China and the Far East. The satellite will relay the information through a tracking station in South Australia. If a missile attack were launched, the information would provide a 30-minute warning. Other systems now provide a 15-minute warning of attack.
