Price rise defended

His company was as unhappy about the recent increases in the price of records as anyone else, according to the marketing managing of His Master's Voice (N.Z.), Ltd (Mr B. Peace). A series of cost rises in the last year had given the company no option, Mr Peace said. Wages had gone up a third, records covers 25 per cent, and petrol and freight costs 17 per cent. Many other services also had risen in cost. "We have to meet increases of up to 100 per cent in royalty payments to artists. All these combined have meant an increase in costs Stater than anything we ve seen in the past,” he said. Most of the price increase would not reach the company. Mr Peace added.
