Bridge teams in N.Z.
The Australian open and the Australian women’s contract bridge teams will begin their combined tour of this country with a match against Canterbury, at Crockfords Club this evening. Australia, which finished fifth in the 1969 world championship and beat a strong United States side last year, will play New Zealand at Wellington on Monday and play Auckland tomorrow week. Unlike most sports, the audience will not be at the same venue as the players for this fixture; spectators Will watch the play by viewgraph with the assistance of an expert commentator, at the Christchurch club.
The tour reciprocates .a visit made to Australia by a New Zealand team, 12 months ago. r
