ESCAPERS CAUGHT
(N.Z. Press Association) WANGANUI March 12. The two prisoners who escaped from Waikune Prison, National Park, on Wednesday night, were recaptured by police searchers at 9.30 p.m. today near Oio, 19 miles from Taumarunui. The escapers, Brian Leonard Kitteridge-Russell, aged 32, and Wayne Gerrard Gillies, aged 21, were seen walking along the road near the Oio overhead bridge by a prison officer stationed near the bridge. The two men were taken into custody without offering any resistance.
