Farm fire fatal

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, March 10. A young man died today and his father was injured when they were trapped by a scrub fire west of Johnsonville, near Wellington. Their names have not yet been released by the police.

The two men were burning off scrub in a remote part of their farm when they were trapped by the fire. •

Because of the remoteness of the fire, emergency services did not arrive until two hours after the accident. “By the time we got there it was all burned out,” said Mr D. A. Varley, deputy fire chief for Wellington.
