Under the sea
Jacques Cousteau, head of a team of intrepid undersea explorers, is well remembered as the central figure in an outstanding documentary series last year. Tomorrow evening “The Undersea World of Jacques Coustea” will return to CHTV3, and if the production and camera work are up to the standard achieved in the first series, the programmes are certain to be received enthusiastically. The first offering in the new series will deal with the formidable task of the crew of the "Calypso” in removing sand and debris from the wreck of an East Indiaman which sank on the Carribean Reef. The wreck was believed to be that of the “La Nuestra de la Concepcion,” which went down in 1641. The CHTV3 announcers, Jane Stayt and Sharon Crosbie, earned full marks for their fluent pronunciation of the vessel’s name in outlining future programmes this week. Another new programme on Sunday evening wilt be “Tell Me If Anything Was Ever Done,” in which Dr Jacob Bronowski reconstructs the life of Leonardo da Vinci, regarded by many as the greatest genius the world has produced. Recreations and originals of his inventions, letters and paintings are included in the 50 min. programme.
