(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 24. The total of unemployed registered with the Department of Labour had decreased by 135, from 1522 at January 19 to 1387 at February 12, the Minister of Labour (Mr Marshall) said today. Of these, 838 were receiving unemployment benefit, compared with 939 at January 29. The largest decreases in the number enrolled were at Auckland and Christchurch, where decreases of 48 and 70 respectively were recorded. The number of vacancies notified to the department totalled 5396, including 3980 male vacancies. There were 1686 vacancies for skilled men.
