Obituary MR O. C. MITCHELL
A former chairman of the Waimairi County Council, Mr Owen Cecil Mitchell, died in Christchurch on Saturday. He was 67. Mr Mitchell, a master builder, was first elected to the Waimairi council in 1962 as a member of the Fendalton riding. He was chairman of the works and reserves committee in 1965 and deputy chairman of the council in 1964-65.
From July, 1965, to October, 1966, Mr Mitchell was county chairman. He resigned from the council in August, 1969. During his time on the council Mr Mitchell represented the council on a wide variety of organisations and was a member of the Papanui High School board of governors for a time.
He is survived by his wife and four children.
