DUNEDIN, Feb. 14. New Brighton and Christchurch boats fought a tight race for the New Zealand unlimited racing runabout outboard championship at Laks Waltakl today.
A field of six faced the starter at the annual championship regatta of the North Otago Yacht and Power Boat Club.
Glasskraft Stinger (C. Cook ; New Brighton) led from end to end to cover the distance in 4min 41.7 sec. Flashpoint (I. Ingham, Christchurch) was in close attendance throughout to finish 2.2 sec behind only to be disqualified for twice missing a marker buoy. The South Island 100 cubic inch hydro championship, was won by How Bout Dat (K. Blair, Green Island) after three of the seven starters failed to finish the course through breakdowns.
Four boats contested the South Island 100 cubic inch restricted racing runabout championship which was won by a Waikato boat U2 (M. Dobson) which dashed across the line two seconds ahead of Sabre (W. Cook, Oamaru). Results were:—

South Island 100 cubic inch hydro championship (B).—How About Dat (K. Blair, Green Island), 4:19, 1: Dial 999 (W. Richardson, North Otago), 4:25.5, 2; Palomine (C. Perham, North Otago), 4:32, 3. South Island 100 cubic inch restricted racing runabout championship (4).—U2 (N. Dobson, Waikato), 5:10.2, 1; Sabre (W. Cook, Oamaru). 5:14 2; Miss Cameo (C. Perham, New Brighton) 5:42, 3.
