More ships laid up

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 2. A world-wide shortage of deck and engineer officers has forced the Union Steam Ship Company to lay up two more vessels. Four are idle at present The Auckland manager, Mr R. C. Stevens, said tonight that the Tarawera would become idle either at the end of this week or early next week, and the Kaimiro in a short time. Both ships were at present discharging cargo.
