(N.Z. Press Association) mu „ , AUCKLAND. | The Takanini jockey, D. J. Wyatt, gained a last-minute ride on the Riccarton mare. Saiilng Home, in the Auckland Cup when the Riccarton rider, G. W. Mein, was unable to ride after injuring a leg whilst riding at Washdvke on Wednesday. Mein’s toe was so badly swollen yesterday morning that he was unable to get his foot into his riding boot and his proposed flight north was cancelled. Mein contacted his wife, who had arrived in Auckland earlier in the week and was staying with friends at Takanini. She subsequently notified Miss J. Edgar Jones, the owner-trainer of Sailing Home. Wyatt heard of Metn’s misfortune at 8.30 a.m., and after consulting Miss Jones was given the mount. Wyatt had originally been engaged for Monty, but after consulting Mr R.
