Bishop merges with Nathan

Bishop and Company, Ltd, the oldest wine and spirit merchant in Canterbury, has merged its interests with those of L. D. Nathan and Company, Ltd, Auckland merchant, hotel owner and soft- ! drink manufacturer. The company will become a subsidiary of the L. D. Nathan Group, but the Meyers family will retain a substantial interest. Mr Donald Meyers, the senior member of the family, is retiring after 42 years in the business. Mr Kenneth Meyers continues as a director of the company, and Mr Humphrey Meyers will be an associate director and the company’s manager. Bishop and Company commenced business in 1854: In joining with L. D. Nathan, the oldest merchant house in New Zealand, it will retain its name and present style of trading.
