Sailor lost overboard
YN.Z. Press Association) NAPIER, Oct 11. A 35-year-old Germar sailor was lost overboarc from the freighter Damaskw about 40 miles from the pon of Napier on Thursday. Ht was Karl Ackerman, from Stein Germany, a baker in th< ship. The ship was nine mile: off the coast at Blackhead just south of Hawke Bay when he disappeared. A search was carried out wit! spotlights from the ship an< the body was sighted abou 45 minutes later. A boat wa; lowered, but before it reachet the spot the body had dis appeared. The ship, which was on it way from Timaru. continue! to Napier.
