Didham and two Australian rid* era will appear before V.A.T.C, stewards next Wednesday over an incident in the Herbert Power Handicap at Caulfield on SaturDidham rode Baghdad Note to finish second to Beer Street. After the race stewards opened an inquiry into the cause of Namtier hitting the running rail near the three furlong post. After taking evidence from S. Aitken, the rider of Namtier, and R. Mallyon (Summerfire) the inquiry was adjourned until Wednesday, the second day of the Caulfield spring meeting. Westport inquiries (N.Z. Press Association) WESTPORT. The Westport Jockey Club’s judicial committee decided to shorten mile events by half a furlong on Saturday to avoid slippery ground in the mile shute. Mr T. W. Lalor was charged with adding gear when saddling Sally Robe before the Kawatin Handicap. After hearing submissions from the stipendiary steward and a statement from Mr Lalor, the committee imposed a penalty of $3O. Suspension of J. F. Grylls (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. J. F. Grylls, the rider of Adelphi in the first division of the Sapling Stakes at Ellerslie on Saturday, was found guilty of causing interference to Cherry Belle and Anakia about threequarters of a furlong after the start. He was suspended from riding up to and including next Saturday.
