Teaching bond

Sir,—Mr Pinder does not need anonymous “Teacher” to defend him. He is, and always has been, held in high esteem for his personal and professional integrity. The point of my emotive and colourful remarks referred rather to the pragmatic and expedient position our administrators seem to have, and the effect this has on the beginning teacher, who has to accept bondage in order to enter the profession. Regardless of how common this device has become it does not seem to me, nor to many of my contemporaries (oldies), a suitable means of obtaining and developing a truly professional body of teachers.—Yours, etc., lAN MACINTOSH. October 8, 1970.
