(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, Sept. 4. The Institute of Economic Research report on regional development was a “waste of money, and should be thrown into the waste paper basket,” said the member of Parliament for Palmerston North, Mr J. A. Walding, today. Mr Walding, who is a member of the Labour Party’s caucus committee on industries and commerce, said that the report endorsed present Government inaction. “It gives no meaningful evidence to substantiate its finding that this inaction is not causing social and economic problems. “Its finding that no action should be taken until the larger problems, such as considerable unemployment occur; is ridiculous.”
