Soldiers’ Graves At Bromley

Sir,—The few new headstones referred to by “6/4417” with the new type of copper plate are no improvement. They have been erected with small grants from the Golden Kiwi Lottery Funds. This state of affairs reflects no credit on the various New Zealand Governments during the last 50 years, nor the New Zealand R.S.A. However, thanks to the efforts of the very capable member of Parliament, Mr Roger Drayton, a statement was made in Parliament last week that all of New Zealand’s unmarked soldier’s graves (just over 600) would receive a headstone before 1971. I have every rea-

son to believe that the Government has made this possible at long last.—Yours, etc., 1914-1918. September 4, 1970.
