IMMIGRATION SCHEME
‘Asians Should Be Included’ (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept 3. Consideration should be given to including Asians in the newly-broadened assistedimmigration policy, said the president of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation (Mr E. P. Salmon) today. Speaking to the council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, Mr Salmon said that the new provisions of the scheme were to be welcomed. Consideration of Asians should be made, to see whether it would have the support of employers. The time was approaching when Asians would have to be considered. The scheme, Mr Salmon said, made a new call on both the Government and employers to ensure that proper screening of migrants was carried out This was necessary if only to help idustrial relations in New Zealand.
