League Youth On Trial
Three players who have represented their senior provincial teams, W. Rangi (Waikato), M. Edmonds (Wellington) and J. B. Low. (West Coast), will play in the interzone 19-year Rugby league match at the Show Grounds tomorrow.
Rangi made a marked impression as a stand-off half or centre of considerable promise last season and was a member of the Waikato team which beat Auckland convincingly a month ago. Edmonds, a centre, had a most successful debut in the Wellington team which won the national inter-provincial tournament, and Low scored a fine try in his first appearance on the wing for West Coast against Canterbury earlier this year. I The two 19-year teams, and the 17-year zone selections which will play in the curtainraiser, include numerous former schoolboy Kiwis. The quality of the play should provide an indication of New Zealand’s potential in the code.
After the matches New Zealand teams will be announced in each age group.
