STUDENTS ACTIVE
Cambodian Solidarity (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PHNOM PENH, Sept. 3.. Thousands of students and civil servants took to the streets of Phnom Penh today in massive demonstrations against the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese. The civil servants marched in orderly fashion round the city’s main roads while the students—carefully watched and shepherded by police—strung banners across the streets and plastered walls, trees and vehicles with antiViet Cong slogans. The posters proclaimed » “The Cambodian Army is a great name in the world,” “On ’ to victory,” and “We want our allies to help kill the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese.” , These replaced other old and tattered posters, some dating back to the demonstrations that preceded the deposition of Prince Norodom Sihanouk as Head of State on March 18.
Today’s protests marked the start of a series of demonstrations to show national solidarity. They followed the departure yesterday of the Cam. bodian Foreign Minister for London and to a conference of unaligned nations in Lusaka.
