Party Rooms Sold
The Canterbury and Westland division of the National Party will probably occupy the first floor of a building which will be erected on the site of its burnt-out rooms in Lichfield Street by Nelson Tillman, Ltd. Mr G. Holmes, the divisional secretary, yesterday announced the sale of the party’s burnt-out rooms to Nelson Tillman, Ltd, for an undisclosed sum.
The National Party has been occupying temporary premises in the National Bank building in Armagh Street since Are badly damaged its Lichfield Street rooms in October last year. Mr N. Tillman, the manager of Nelson Tillman, Ltd, a furnishing firm, said the firm had set up premises in a smoke-damaged three-storey building at the rear of the section on a temporary basis. Plans for developing the rest of the property included the construction of a 4000 sq. ft furniture showroom.
