Derby Stake $8000
The New Zealand Derby this year will be worth $BOOO. The decision to increase the stake by $lOOO was made by the committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club at a meeting yesterday.
The committee also decided that conditions would be unchanged, and that stakes would remain at the same level as last year for all other races at the New Zealand Cup meeting at Riccarton in November.
This Is the second successive year that the stake for the Hew Zealand Derby, to be run on New Zealand Cup day, November 7, has been raised by $lOOO.
