Canterbury Two Losses

(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL. Canterbury suffered two defeats on the second day of tha men's national indoor basketball tournament yesterday. It lost 74-75 to Auckland, after leading 42-35 at half-time and failing to stave off Auckland's superb second-half recovery, and by 70-75 to Southland. when Canterbury was unable to find the form it had showed earlier in the day. Palmerston North, which had lost to Canterbury the previous day, scored the first century at the tournament, beating Southland, 105-63. Palmerston North’s performance was vastly improved, but Southland put up a disappointing showing. Other results were: Otago 92, Nelson 82; Wellington 104, Hawke’s Bay 65: North Queensland 97, Marlborough 50; Otago 76, Combined Services 56.
