DUNEDIN, Sept. 1. The Rugby match between Buller and Canterbury, which was due to be played today but was postponed because of the West Coast floods, was not the first Ranfurly Shield challenge to have been postponed because of bad weather. South Canterbury was to play Otago on July 24, 1948, in the first challenge of the season, when both Carishrook and Tahuna Park were flooded by heavy rain. The game was ultimately played on September 8, 1948, Otago winning, 36-6.
