Taxi Licence Refused
An application by Petei Johnston, a night supervisor for a taxi company, for a new taxi licence to work from Lyttelton, was refused by the No. 9 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr J. M. Dwyer) on Tuesday. The Authority said that the applicant, represented by Mr H. J. B. Quigley, had not made out a sufficient case for a licence to be granted. Kiwi Taxis, Ltd (Mr M. J. C. Loughnan), which opposed the application, was not called on to give evidence. An amendment to a goods service licence by the addition of two vehicle authorities for the cartage of sawdust, shavings and spent chicken litter was granted to Avon Transport Service, Ltd. (Mr R. F Powell). Herewini Huatahi Sadliei (Mr D. M. Palmer) was granted an application to transfer a goods service licence from Leonard James Keast.
