ECOLOGICAL SOCIETY

Conference At Lincoln Various aspects of ecology will be covered in addresses which will be given to the annual conference of the New Zealand Ecological Society at Lincoln College today. The conference started last evening with a dinner and a joint meeting with the New Zealand Geographical Society. Addresses will be delivered today, and the society’s annual meeting will be held this evening.

A symposium on the urban community and natural resources will occupy all of tomorrow. The chairman will be the principal of Lincoln College (Dr M. M. Burns), and the opening address will be delivered by the Minister of Lands and Forests (Mr MacIntyre). The speakers will include Dr T. O'Riordan, on community attitudes to natural resources; Dr G. R. Williams on man's environmental needs. Dr R. S. Bigelow on population pressures, Mr J. D. O’Brien on rural and urban planning. Dr B. P. J. Molloy on nature conservation in settled areas, Mr J. M. Kelsey on pest control, Mr H. E. Connor on water uses, and Dr J. R Bray, on the atmosphere. On Saturday, the conference will end with an all-day excursion.
