Noise
Sir,—lt is agreed that those unfortunate enough to live near the Boon Hay Club face noise from cars, and too often the shrill voices of women make the name “workingmen’s club” something of a misnomer. I wrote to your column once complaining about the cars parked in I e street day and night (and this in a comparatively narrow street) with the potential danger to other road users in mind, especially children. The traffic superintendent said that “the matter would be looked into.” With three schools in the immediate vicinity and week-day parking in the street outside the cl b, the danger is obvious. Some cars appear troubled and steer devious courses on their departure, after being parked all day and night, too. A small boy who was nearly struck down outside the club last Friday afternoon could well have been the first casualty of local authority indifference in this matter.— Yours, etc., TANKERVILLE ROAD.
