11 Flights Affected

The 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. stopwork decision by Civil Aviation workers at Christchurch and Dunedin could affect 11 National Airways Corporation flights a day, the regional manager of the corporation (Mr J. E. Davies) said last evening. Nine of the affected flights were after 5 p.m. each day, and the other two were before 8 a.m. However, Mr Davies said, the full effects of the decision would not be known until this morning, when the corporation’s planners would work out the details. It was not known at this stage even what airports would eventually be involved, he said. Mr Davies said that special school holidays flights were unlikely to be affected at this stage, as most children had gone home on Thursday and yesterday, or would fly today. He was not sure if the end-of-holiday special flights would be affected.
