Saving Trees
The sound, attractive trees on the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association site for its proposed new buildings would be saved, said Mr J. K. Collins, Hunt and Associates, the architects for the C.M.A., yesterday. Mr Collins said that the site for the proposed centre was a handsome one, and it was hoped the design of the proposed buildings would enhance such a splendid site. Bungalow Passed A two-bedroom, weatherboard bungalow with a garage on a section of 35.9 perches at 51 Dallington Terrace, Dallington, was passed in for an undisclosed sum when offered yesterday at auction. The Government valuation is $B3OO. The property was sold on behalf of the estate of N. S. Ackrill. The auctioneer was Mr R. G. Bell of R. G. Bell and Company. Lottery Draw Mammoth Kiwi lottery No. 25 will be drawn tomorrow.— (P.A.) Band Congratulated The Prime Minister (Sir Keith Holyoake), has sent the following message to the New Zealand National Band competing in the world championships at Kerkrade, the Netherlands: “Please convey to the band my personal congratulations and those of all New Zealanders on its outstanding success in the world music championships and the marching contest Even at this stage of the championships it is apparent the New Zealand National Band will maintain the high place it has won for itself in the past" —(P.A.)
