Mr K. Gillies, the present Deputy Auditor-General, has been appointed Controller and Auditor-General to succeed Mr B. D. A. Greig, who is retiring. Mr Gillies, aged 55, is a member of the New Zealand Society of Accountants and holds a bachelor of commerce degree. He will take up his new post on August 12. He has spent 31 years in the audit department.— (P-A.)
Detective Senior-Sergeant R. N Macdonald, of Wellington, has been promoted to the rank of detective inspector and will join the Christchurch C. 1.8.
