Obituary Mr- G. W. Scandrett Mr George Whittingham Scandrett, the drama critic of the “Christchurch Star,” died on Monday, aged 41. Mr Scandrett, who was born in Southland, was educated at Southland Boys’ High School and the University of Otago, from which he graduated bachelor of arts. He joined the “Christchurch Star” in 1951, having begun his career in journalism with the “Southland Times.” He was a reporter and a sub-editor before being appointed chief sub-editor of the “Star Sports.” Mr Scandrett, who was-well-known in theatre circles J , joined the council of the Canterbury Society of Arts four , years ago, and edited the society’s bi-monthly newsletter. He is survived by his wife . and three children. i
