8 minutes: From a line-out, Visagie put the Springboks ahead 6-0 when he drop-kicked a goal with his left foot. 12 minutes: From another line-out, the All Black backs were caught offside two yards outside their twenty-five and right in front of the posts. McCallum kicked the penalty.

35 minutes: The All Blacks looked likely for the first time when Dick burst past G. Muller to the Springbok twentyfive before kicking over McCallum’s head. Nomis cleared into the All Black half where Laidlaw was offside round a scrum, and McCallum goaled with a fine kick. 52 minutes: South Africa was penalised at a scrum in front of its posts, and McCormick put the All Blacks on the board with a goal. 60 minutes: Going broke brilliantly round a scrum and fed. Williams, who beat two men on the outside and then stepped inside McCallum to score a great try. McCormick, from wide out, missed the conversion. 76 minutes: Nomis made a sensational interception 35 yards out from the All Black line and with the crowd going wild scampered through for a try under the bar. McCallum lifted the conversion over—to a tumultuous roar from the crowd.
