Patrida Runs Sixth

(N.Z.P.A. Staff Correspondent) BRISBANE. N. Birrer, the rider of the New Zealand galloper Patrida was suspended by stewards for three months for careless riding after the running of the Ipswich Cup (10 furlongs and 60 yards) at Bundamba on Saturday. The chief steward told Birrer that the stewards had considered charging him with a more serious offence but after consideration had proceeded with the lesser charge. Patrida found the 10 furlongs plus too far. After leading at the half-mile he gradually fell back to come sixth. The race was won by Makata.
