Arms Sales Protest

The group opposing apartheid that played a part in having the Springboks' cricket tour of England cancelled has begun to organise opposition to the possible lifting of the arms sales ban to South Africa, the “Daily Telegraph” reports. Mr Peter Hain, aged 20. the South African-born leader of the Stop the 70 Tour Committee, says that his group is rallying support for an even more intensive effort against the export of arms.
this week-end, a protest was held outside No. 10 Downing Street after a 24hour fast by eight demonstrators.
“The cancellation of the Springboks* tour was one of the greatest successes for the
protest movement anywhere in the world,” Mr Hain said.
