AIRLINER CRASH

70 Escape Unhurt (N.Z Press Assn.—Copyright) GERONA (Spain), July 17. More than 70 West German holidaymakers escaped unhurt when their chartered jet aircraft crashed on take-off from Gerona late last night. ■ The only serious casualties were the pilot and co-pilot of the airliner, a rear-engined British-made 8.A.C.1-H belonging to the Munich-based air charter company, Bavaria. The aircraft, which carried a crew of five, was taking West German tourists back to Munich after their holidays at the Costa Brava resorts. The tail of the airliner was broken in two by the impact, but apart from the two pilots only one woman passenger had to go to hospital Six other persons were slightly hurt, but needed only first-aid treatment
