Australian Markets Better At Close
Mining shares looked a little brighter towards the .close an Australian stock exchanges yesterday. Industrials appeared marginally firmer ! though oils were dull and ' traded lower. Western Mining rose 25c, Queensland Min-' 30c, Metals Exploration 16c and Newmex 10c. Oils were dull. Bridge fell 2c to 29c, Woodside the same amount to 68c, and Ampol Exploration 5c to 185 c. Beach recovered part of
yesterday’s sharp fall adding 10c te 160 c. Bounty was steady at 9.5 c. Industrials firmed slightly with a series of small gains, changed hands at 1370 c for a rise of 15c. British Tobacco, Cascade, and T.N.T. all up 5c were among the best rises. The retailers David Jones was steady on 150 c while Waltons dipped 2c and Myer Ic. Comalco came back 10c to 550 c and N.Z.
