New Soccer Venues
Southern league soccer {matches scheduled to be played at English Park today have been transferred to other venues because of the saturated condition of the ground. Shamrock will play RoslynWakari at Riccarton Domain at 1 p.m. and Technical will meet New Brighton at Rawhiti Domain. 2.45 p.m. In addition. Beckenham. ■ McFarlane. Elmwood and, Malvern Parks are closed, and all Canterbury F.A. third division matches have been postponed. The Keys Cup match between New Brighton and Cashmere-Wanderers at Ra- - whiti Domain will start at I . p.m. and the second division games between Shamrock and Wigram and Western and ’ Shirley-Nomads have been transferred to Bumside No. 5 and Burwood No. 1 respectively.
Laver Wins.—The Australian. R. Laver, overpowered hie countryman. K. Rosewall, 6-4 6-3. 6 3, in the final of the tennis champions* classic of New York and won the 935,000 first prize—the largest prize in the history of professional tennis.
