Members stood briefly in memory of Mr E. C. Meachen, a member of the House from 1935 to 1946. whose death was announced. A petition signed by 2400 persons was received asking for better entry and settlement conditions for Samoans. The annual reports of the Rehabilitation Board, the Historic Places Trust, the National Art Gallery and Museum Board of Trustees, the Housing Division, and the State Advances Corporation, and the annual Ministry of Works statement were tabled. The Budget debate was continued.
