Govt Staff Review

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, July 14. The Government is reviewing its “labour usage” at departmental level. This was said by the Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon) at the Dominion conference of Federated Farmers in Wellington today. Discussing the importance of tight control on Government spending, the Minister said the Cabinet had decided that each Minister should review the use of labour in his departments, in “much the same way as we would expect private employers to act after the imposition of the payroll tax.”
