A conservation-minded British Labour Member of Parliament has criticised the Queen's acceptance of a Polar bear skin rug during her Canadian tour. The "Sun” reports that Mr Tam Dalyell, a Scots Parliamentarian, is raising the issue in the House of Commons as part of a campaign to persuade the Prime Minister (Mr Heath) to appoint a Minister responsible for the environment I “It is quite outrageous—jthe Queen certainly should • have refused it,” said Mr Dalyell. Polar bears are among the animals listed by , the World Wildlife Fund as rare and threatened with extinction.”

Prince Philip, who accompanied the Queen on the tour, is president of the fund.
