UNIVERSITY SALARIES
Concern At ‘•Disparity’ (N Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, June 12. The Massey University Council resolved yesterday to express its concern at the disparity between New Zealand and Australian university salaries. A request had been received from the Massey branch of the Association of University Teachers for the council to receive a deputation of three, led by the president, Mr R. D. Lyall. The deputation presented a submission in respect of the 1970 salary review, and expressed concern at the delay in an announcement by the Government. On the withdrawal of the deputation, the council discussed the submission and resolved:
“That council express concern at the great disparity between New Zealand and Australian university salaries, and its possible effects on future staff recruitment.”
