Bridge Blocked After Skid

The Arthur’s Pass road was blocked for a time last night after a four-wheel-drive vehicle skidded on the approach to the Dry Creek bridge near Porters Pass and became wedged in the Bailey bridge. Miss Vicki Thompson, of 43 Innes Road, and David MitiChell, of 14 Airedale Place, both suffered head injuries, ; lacerations and bruises. They were brought in a private car as far as Springfield and transferred to a Christchurch St John Ambulance. Mr Mitchell was admitted to

Princess Margaret Hospital and Miss Thompson was treated and discharged.
