Environmental Council Set Up
(N.Z Press Association)
WELLINGTON, June 10.
The National Development Council today decided to set up a new sector council—an environmental council—and established its terms of reference.
The N.D.C. chairman (the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Marshall), said the move stemmed from the main recommendation of the physical environment conference, held in Wellington last month. The environmental council may have up to 13 members and the N.D.C. is now seeking nominations for membership from all interested parties.
One of the new council’s main jobs will be to advise the N.D.C. and Government departments on ways to maintain, preserve and develop a high environmental standard | in New Zealand.
