(-4. 6-2, 6-2, in a Paris tennis tournament, and enter the men's singles quarter-finals. Ashe, attempting a tennis grand slam, joined another American, C. Richey, two Frenchmen, three East Europeans and. M. Mulligan, an Australian now living in Italy, in the final eight.
Richey battled his way stubbornly to an 8-6. 4-4. 8-6 win ever. A. Metreveli, Russia's top player. -
