Assurance On Representation

(N Z Press Association)

HAMILTON, May 21.

The newly appointed High Commissioner to Canberra (Mr A. J. Yendell, of Hamilton) has given an assurance that he will not take party politics to Australia. “I will be representing the whole of New Zealand,” he said, speaking from his office at his family furnishing and drapery business. Mr Yendell was replying to criticism of his appointment from the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk) and the Deputy Leader (Mr Watt).

Both attacked Mr Yendell’s appointment and called for a replacement for the post.
