About 43 per cent of drivers checked during a survey in Britain were found to be wearing their seatbelts too loosely, the British Consumer Association’s magazine, “Which,” has reported. Some had more than 4in of slack in the belt, whereas the maximum slack should be an inch, the magazine said.

Manufacturers say a seatbelt should be adjusted until it is just possible to slide a hand comfortably between the belt and the wearer’s chest.
