Architectural Course

A new era was beginning for New Zealand and international architecture and “exciting times” lay ahead, the organiser of a series of weekly lectures on the subject from the Department of Extension Studies, University of Canterbury, said yesterday. Miss R. Robins said that aspects of 20th Century Architecture would be studied in the series of .seven weekly lectures beginning on June 3. The lecturers, a group of Christchurch architects, will each examine a particular topic, such as “Architecture jin the 19705” and “Colour in Architecture.”

The influence of modern building materials on design and the relationship of spaces will be considered. The course will aim to explain the attitude of practising architects in an everchanging technological world and show that in spite of change, they can always continue to maintain the old and enduring values of form and scale, though modified, Miss Robins said.
