SIGNALS IN CHCH

No-Stopping Zones

(From Our Own Reporter)

WELLINGTON, May 20. No-stopping zones and zones where parking is restricted to 30 minutes were approved for Christchurch today by the National Roads Board. The zones will complement the provision of traffic signals at the intersections of Bealey Avenue with Manchester Street and Sherborne Street.

The no-stopping zones are: in Bealey Avenue on the north side commencing at the intersection with Manchester Street and extending 110 ft west; on the south side of Bealey Avenue beginning at the intersection with Manchester Street and extending 123 ft east: on the east side of Sherborne Street commencing at the intersection of Bealey Avenue and extending 112 ft north. These no-stopping zones are considered necessary for the successful operation of the signals and have been approved by the Ministry of Transport and the roading division. The restricted parking length is on the south side of Bealey Avenue commencing at the intersection with Manchester Street and extending 60ft westward. This restriction is the result of a complaint from the owner of an adjoining business who is concerned about all-day parking.
